Sentinel Band Performance Dates

--- **Sept 10** **Required for all:** Marching rehearsal after school from 3:45 to 4:45 PM. will rehearse for our first football game together. We will meet in the band room first, then go outside to practice what it will be like to play in a stadium setting. **Note:** There should be no sports today. I cleared it with our AD, Mr. Jannusch, last spring. If there is a conflict, please let Mr. Nelson know ASAP.

 

--- **Sept 12** **Required for all:** Marching Band vs. Helena at MCPS Stadium. Students will rehearse from 3:45 to 5:30 PM at SHS. The goal of this rehearsal is to the marching music together, practice the national anthem, and run -4 pep band tunes. We will eat pizza supplied by the booster parents together, and students will be released at 6 PM to themselves to MCPS Stadium. Please meet Mr. Nelson at 6: PM in the stands at the SE corner of the stadium. We will begin playing at 6:45 PM, and the will start at 7 PM. There will be no halftime show tonight. Students will be released at the beginning of the 3rd quarter. Those who stay for the full game can use this time towards a letter. **Note:** If you are in an outside school sport or activity, please join us when your practice is finished Just let Mr. Nelson know, and we will work around it. **Uniform:** Band shirt, jeans, jacket.

 

--- **Sept 24** ** for Jazz Band Gold:** Jazz Concert with special guest artist 7 PM at Hellgate HS – more info to!

 

--- **Oct 4** **Required for all:** Marching Band Camp from :30 AM to 2:30 PM (Parent show will be at 2 PM). We will meet at SHS to work on our halftime show and learn how to parade march as a full band. Please bring water, healthy snacks, and wear your marching shoes. The boosters will feed the students pizza from 11:30 AM to 12:15. I know there are sports conflicts. Students, please let Mr. Nelson know when will be at camp and/or when you need to leave.

 

--- **Oct 8** **Required for all:** Marching rehearsal after school from 3:45 to 4:45 PM. We will rehearse our halftime show and practice parade marching as a band together. We will meet outside on the field. **Note:** There should be no sports games today. I cleared it with our AD, Mr. Jannusch, last spring. If there is a conflict, please let Mr. Nelson know ASAP.

 

--- **Oct 10** **Required for all:** Sentinel Homecoming Marching Band vs. Big Sky at MCPS Stadium. Students will rehearse from 3:45 to 5:30 PM at SHS and will clean the show. We will eat pizza supplied by the booster parents together, change, and students will be released at 5:45 PM to transport themselves to the stadium. Please go directly to the stadium. We will warm, unload the moving van, and begin playing immediately. The game will start at 7 PM. We play in the stands at the football game, and we WILL perform our halftime show tonight. Students will be released after the 3rd quarter. Those who stay for the full can use this time towards a letter. **Note:** If you are in an outside school or activity, please join us when your practice is finished. Just Mr. Nelson know, and we will work around it. **Uniform:** Marching shirt, black pants, black socks, marching shoes, and shorts (for under the uniform).

 

--- **Oct 11** **Required for all:** Marching Band at UM Homecoming Parade. Meet at SHS at 7:00 AM. We will practice parade marching, then bus to the parade site and march in the UM Homecoming Parade. After the parade, we will bus back to SHS. **Uniform:** Marching shirt, black pants, black socks, marching shoes, and shorts (for under the uniform).

 

--- **Oct 14** **Required for all:** Fall at 7:00 PM – CALL at 6:00 PM in the Gym. TBD Volunteers/Pep Band – Football Playoffs! Play in the stands and be loud! DRESS WARM! The goal to have at least 60 students. These games count towards LETTERING in band! They are low pressure and fun!

 

--- **Dec 1** **Required for Symphonic Band, Jazz Bands, and Percussion Ensemble:** Holiday Concert at 7:00 PM - Call at 6:15 PM in the Margaret Johnson Theatre.

 

--- **Dec2** **Required for Wind Ensemble and Concert Band:** Holiday Concert at 7:00 PM - CALL at 6:15 PM in the Margaret Johnson Theatre.

 

--- **Feb 17** Wind Ensemble & Jazz Band Gold - Performance with Meadow Hill and Porter Middle School at 7:00 PM – Call at 6:15 PM in the Margaret Johnson Theatre.

 

--- **Feb 23 or 24** **Required for Concert, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Percussion Ensemble:** UM Concert Band Festival – Times TBD, daytime performances.

 

--- **Feb 24** **Required for Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Percussion Ensemble:** 7:00 PM in the Margaret Johnson Theatre. Call at 6:30 PM.

 

--- **March 2-3** **Required for Wind Ensemble:** AA Band Festival in Missoula. All students will rehearse all day and have two evening concerts at Hellgate High School.

 

--- **March 10** **Required for both jazz bands:** Collaboration concert with Hellgate at Sentinel at 7 PM – Call at 6:15 PM in the Margaret Johnson Theatre.

 

--- **March 12 or 13** UM Jazz Festival – Both Jazz Bands, Times TBD.

 

--- **May 19** **Required for all:** of Year Banquet/Concert at 6:00 PM in the Large Gym.

 

 

**EXTRA-CURRICULAR/HONOR PERFORMANCE ENSEMBLE DATES**

--- **Oct 15-17** All-State Band students only – Festival will be held in Great Falls. **Uniform:** Tux suit or concert dress. nice school clothes during festival rehearsals (look professional).

 

--- **Mid November** UM All Star Band – More info to come!

 

--- **March 14-15** All-State Jazz Band – Festival will be held in Missoula. Auditions will be recorded in the Fall.

 

--- **April 18** District Music Festival/Solo/Ensemble.

 

--- **Early May** State Music Festival.

 

**TOUR REHEARSAL SCHEDULE**

- April 1: Band Tour Expectations meeting and going away performance! 6 PM meeting, concert follow.

 

**PEP BAND SCHEDULE**

 

I hope all students will consider joining the Pep Band! Each game and practice counts towards lettering in band! I will release the practice and game schedule in November.
