Sentinel Band Performance Dates
September 14 Required for all
Marching Band vs Billings Skyview at MCPS Stadium
After School Rehearsal (released at 6 pm) - Self transport to Stadium by 6:30 pm (Game at 7 pm)
Students will rehearse after school at SHS. The goal of this rehearsal is to put the marching music together, practice the national anthem, and run 3-4 pep band tunes. We will eat pizza supplied by the booster parents together and students will be released at 6 pm to transport themselves to MCPS Stadium. Please meet Mr. Nelson at 6:30 pm in the stands at the SE corner of the stadium. We will begin playing at 6:45. The game will start at 7:00pm. No halftime show tonight. Note: If you are in an outside school sport or activity, please join us when your practice is finished. Just let Mr. Nelson know and we will work around it.
Uniform: band shirt, jeans, jacket
September 16 Required for all
Marching Band Camp
8 am–4 pm
We will meet at SHS to work on our halftime show and learn how to parade marching as a full band. Please bring water, healthy snacks and wear your marching shoes. The boosters will feed the students pizza from 11:30-12:15.
September 21 Required for all
Marching Rehearsal after school
4-5:30 pm
We will rehearse for the UM Parade as well as work on our halftime show. Please wear your marching shoes to break them in. Note: If you are in an outside school sport or activity, please join us when your practice is finished. Just let Mr. Nelson know and we will work around it.
September 22 Required for all
Sentinel Homecoming Marching Band vs Big Sky at Washington Grizzly Stadium
Rehearsal After School - Students released at 5:45 to transport themselves to stadium
Students will rehearse after school at SHS and will clean the show. We will eat pizza supplied by the booster parents together, change and students will be released at 5:45pm to transport themselves to WA Griz Stadium. Please go directly to the stadium. We will warm up, unload the moving van, and begin playing immediately. The game will start at 7:00 pm. We will play in the stands at the football game, and we WILL perform our halftime show tonight. Note: If you are in an outside school sport or activity, please join us when your practice is finished. Just let Mr. Nelson know and we will work around it.
Uniform: marching shirt, black pants, black socks, marching shoes and shorts (for under the uniform).

Marching Band at UM Homecoming Parade
7 am (Meet at SHS)
We will briefly practice parade marching, then will bus to the parade site and march the UM Homecoming Parade. After the parade, we will bus back to SHS.
Uniform: marching shirt, black pants, black socks, marching shoes and shorts (for under the uniform).
October 4 Required for Jazz Band

Football Playoffs!!!
Play in the stands and be loud! DRESS WARM! The goal is to have at least 60 students. These games count towards LETTERING in band!! They are low pressure and fun!

If you are interested in playing in the grizzly band someday or want to learn about how to make money playing your instrument in college, this is a great opportunity!

Italy Tour - Extra Practices
Extra Italy evening practices will take place since we are combining students from various bands together. Please mark the following dates on your calendar: 7-8:30pm on the following dates: November 6, 20, 27, December 11, January 8, 22, FEBRUARY 5, 19, and March 6.
Pep band schedule
I hope all students will consider joining the Pep Band! Each game and practice count towards lettering in band!!
I will release the practice and game schedule in November.

Please make arrangements for dealing with any schedule conflict. Extreme care has been taken in constructing this calendar for balancing a quality music education experience with student and family interests and commitments. All events are scheduled as certain as possible at printing time. Remember if there are issues, please email Mr. Nelson. I am very easy to work with as long as there is clear communication. Thank you!
